Comparative Study of 8th-9th Century Classical Poetry Collections: Focusing on Trans-East Asian Dynamics
Abstract:
The aim of this study is to examine the transitive aspects observed in classical Chinese and Japanese poetry collections from the 8th to 9th centuries. For Chinese poetry, the study will focus on four collections from the "Tang Dynasty Poetry Collection," specifically the "Guo Shu Collection," "Xia Ya Ying Ying Collection," "Zhong Gan Ji Collection," and "Wu Xian Collection." In the case of Japanese poetry, the study will target the "Wafu Shu," "Noyun Collection," "Bunka Su Ryo Collection," and "Kyokoku Collection."
This research will employ quantitative methodologies and use digital methods to visually analyze the characteristics of these eight poetry collections. By doing so, the study aims to concretely identify literary exchanges and influences between China and Japan and uncover the transitive features present in these collections. Additionally, the analysis will clarify the impact of Sino-Japanese literary interactions on contemporary poetry and present the unique and common aspects of each collection in a visual format.
The research focuses on understanding how the literary heritage of the two countries has interacted and evolved, contributing significantly to the in-depth analysis of transitive aspects in East Asian literary history and enhancing scholarly understanding.
