Hawaii International Conference on Chinese Studies

Hawaiʻi International Conference on Chinese Studies (HICCS) brings together educators and professionals from a wide range of fields in Chinese Studies to present papers on various aspects of Chinese culture and society in mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and among overseas Chinese societies. The goal of HICCS is to create an interdisciplinary atmosphere for our understanding of the past, present, and future of Chinese society and addressing issues within China and in Chinese communities throughout the world. Honolulu is a vibrant city in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Its central location provides a meeting point where researchers within various disciplines of Chinese Studies can meet, discuss, and network with scholars around the globe.

The 4th Annual Hawai‘i International Conference on Chinese Studies (HICCS) will take place in the beautiful city of Honolulu, Hawai‘i, from January 8 to 10, 2025. This year’s conference brings together over 120 distinguished speakers from around the globe, representing countries such as the United States, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Poland, France, Hungary, and beyond.
With submissions spanning more than 20 diverse fields—including history, literature, education, philosophy, culture, and religion—the conference will feature 30 engaging concurrent sessions. These sessions provide an unparalleled platform for scholars, educators, and researchers to share insights, foster dialogue, and explore innovative ideas shaping Chinese Studies.

A Highlight: HICCS 2025 Education Symposium

The Center for Chinese Studies at the University of Hawai‘i, in collaboration with the Center on Chinese Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, organized the HICCS 2025 Education Symposium. As part of HICCS 2025, the Education Symposium focuses on strengthening understanding and fostering collaboration between the United States and Greater China through education. The symposium will feature specialized panels that examine the impact of historical and contemporary educational exchanges, promote innovative teaching practices, explore transformative technological advancements, and enhance cross-cultural competencies.

第四届Hawai‘i International Conference on Chinese Studies (HICCS) 将于2025年1月8日至10日在夏威夷美丽的火奴鲁鲁市举行。今年的会议吸引了来自美国、中国大陆、香港、台湾、韩国、日本、泰国、英国、新加坡、马来西亚、澳大利亚、波兰、法国、匈牙利等多个国家和地区的120多位学者。

此次会议收到的投稿涵盖历史、文学、教育、哲学、文化、宗教等20多个学科领域,设置了30场分会场报告,为学者、教育工作者和研究人员提供了一个理想的学术交流平台,共同分享见解、激发讨论、探索中国研究的创新方向。

夏威夷大学中国研究中心与哥伦比亚大学教师学院中国教育研究中心联合举办了HICCS2025 教育研讨会。作为HICCS 2025的重要组成部分,教育研讨会聚焦于通过教育促进美中之间的理解与合作。研讨会将以专题小组讨论的形式展开,深入探讨历史与当代教育交流的影响,推广创新教育实践,探索技术的变革性作用,并提升跨文化能力与合作关系。
